CartCompare Privacy Policy

CartCompare is a mobile application provided by Conplexus LLC ("Conplexus," "we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what information CartCompare processes, how that information is used, and what choices you have.
1. What CartCompare Does
CartCompare is a grocery comparison app that helps users scan product barcodes, look up product information, confirm package assumptions, compare products by shopping goal, and save comparison history for later review. CartCompare is intended as a shopping comparison aid and does not provide medical, nutrition, or dietary advice.
2. Information We Process
a. Camera Access
If you choose to scan a barcode, CartCompare requests access to your device camera for barcode scanning only.
b. Product Lookup Data
When you scan or enter a barcode, CartCompare may send the barcode or related product lookup request to Open Food Facts or another product information source in order to retrieve product data such as product name, serving information, and nutrition details.
c. Comparison and History Data
CartCompare stores comparison-related information locally on your device, such as:
- Product A and Product B selections
- Package assumptions you enter or confirm
- Selected shopping priority
- Saved comparison history
- Comparison summaries may be copied to your device clipboard if you choose to use the copy feature. In the current MVP, we do not maintain a cloud account or sync copied content to Conplexus servers.
In the current MVP, this information is stored locally on-device and is not linked to an account.
3. What We Do Not Currently Do
In the current MVP, CartCompare does not:
- Require user accounts
- Process payments
- Include advertising
- Include third-party ad tracking
- Sync user history to a Conplexus cloud account
In the current MVP, Conplexus does not sell personal data and does not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
If these features are added in the future, this Privacy Policy may be updated.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Scan and recognize barcodes
- Retrieve product information for comparison
- Calculate comparison metrics and comparison recommendations based on your selected shopping goal
- Store your recent comparison history locally on your device
- Improve app functionality, reliability, and usability
5. Third-Party Services
CartCompare may rely on third-party services to function, including product information services such as Open Food Facts. When a barcode lookup is performed, data necessary for that lookup may be transmitted to that service. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third-party services you use through the app.
6. Data Retention
In the current MVP, comparison history and related app data are stored locally on your device until you delete them, uninstall the app, or clear app data through your device or app controls.
7. Your Choices
You may:
- Decline camera access and enter barcodes manually
- Delete saved comparisons or app history through app functionality, if available
- Uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data from your device, subject to your device behavior
8. Children's Privacy
CartCompare is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
